Thomas Franklin Jenkins was the only son, fourth and last child born to Mary Jane (Davis) Jenkins and John W. Jenkins in James County (now Hamilton county) Tennessee.
Thomas married Mary Alva Shaw in January, 1902 when he was 19 years of age - they had total of eight children, three of which died in infancy. Their surviving sons were: Herbert Franklin Jenkins, Ira Delmar Jenkins, Thomas Whitman Jenkins, Grady Jenkins and Jewel Jenkins.
Thomas Franklin Jenkins died from pneumonia at his home located at 2111 Davenport Street, Chattanooga - he was 55 years of age.
