Carl Thomas "Bud" Davidson Jr. , age 85 of Fairfield died Friday, March 11, 2011 at 8:00 A.M. at Sunny Brook Living Care Center in Fairfield.
Carl was born March 25, 1925 at Monmouth, Illinois, the son of Carl Thomas and Mary Louise Munson Davidson. He grew up in the Batavia community and attended
Bumblebee School. He served in Guam and the Pacific Theater during
World War II, receiving the Purple Heart.
He had lived in Batavia, Ottumwa and in Fairfield for the past 21 years. He worked for Lowenberg Bakery before beginning his career as a car salesman. He worked for Vaughn and Martz Motors in Ottumwa, and Danielson Motor Company, Kreiger's and Fesler's before his retirement.
Carl married Bertie Lou King Dlouhy on May 5, 1990 in Fairfield. Carl was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Eagles Lodge. He enjoyed tractors, cars, dancing and fishing.
Deceased family members include his parents, 2 brothers John and Jim Davidson and
1 sister Mary Lou Shirkey and a step-son Gary Dlouhy.
Surviving are his wife, his daughter Joyce Marie Davidson Carey and her husband Cecil Leroy Carey, daughters: Delores (Edward) Spees of Birmingham, Pat (Dennis) Davis of Batavia, Penny (Mark) Eklund of Birmingham, and sons Robert E. Dlouhy of Fairfield and Richard ( Kristi) Dlouhy of Pinehurst, N.C.; 17 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield with Pastor Danny Cary and Reverend Nate Nims officiating.
Interment will be in the Batavia Cemetery with Military Rites.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the Raymond Funeral Home.
