Lillian (Smith) Power, 94, died peacefully at home on October 9, 2011. Beloved wife of the late L. Carleton Power. Loving mother of Carla Lawler of Brockton, Donna Power of Wollaston and David Power and his wife, Linda, of Wollaston. Devoted grandmother of Brian Lawler and his wife, Laura, of West Bridgewater, Christopher Lawler and his wife, Caribeth, of Brockton, Merideth, Marilyn, Thomas and Jason Power, all of Wollaston. Great-grandmother of Matthew, Kevin, Jazmyn, Christopher Jr. and Nathan. Sister of Lois Hennessey of Jupiter, Florida, Barbara Sabean of Scituate, MA and the late Minard Smith and Arthur Smith. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Born in Somerville, MA. Member of first graduating class of North Quincy High School in 1934. Attended business school and was a bookkeeper for the Railroad, A&P, New England Telephone Company and the Wollaston Lobster Company which was a family business. She also was a co-owner of Wollaston Fabric Shop. A member of former Atlantic Methodist Church, where she was the Sunday School secretary and a Communion Steward for many years. At First Baptist Church in Wollaston, she was involved in both Hathomar and Women's Clubs. Lillian was the oldest active member at Pearl Street United Methodist Church in Brockton, MA. Her greatest joy was her family. Lillian always put others first and never wanted any recognition for anything she did. Lillian Volunteered at the Thomas Crane Public Library. She enjoyed knitting for her family and others, including hundreds of squares for Warm Up America, dozens of hats, scarves and preemie hats and blankets for Brockton Hospital. She was an avid reader, including several newspapers every day and was always cutting out articles, editorials, trivia, etc. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her memory to Hospice of the South Shore, 100 Bay State Drive, Braintree, MA 02184. Burial will be private.
