Roy E. Carey, 63, Leavenworth, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2011. Roy was born May 19, 1948, in Garnett, Kansas. Graveside services are Saturday, October 22, 2011, 2:00 PM at West Lawn Memorial Gardens, 820 SW Auburn Rd., Topeka, KS. Roy worked for Tommy's Restaurant, Stanley's Flower Shop and other florists in Topeka. He also worked for Wood Oil and Shawn's Lawn & Landscape of Leavenworth. Roy loved to rummage through the trash and find what he called treasures or antiques. Roy loved fishing with his son Andrew, gardening, playing games and just shooting the breeze with the neighbors. Roy was preceded in death by his parents Harry Clifford (Fats) Carey and Dorothy Marie Daugherty, also his wife Cheryl, half sister Mary, two brothers Arthur and Jerry and sister Patty. Roy is survived by his son Andrew Patrick Miller, three sisters; Donna (John) Payne, Karen (Jim) Wilson and Marsha Carey. He is also survived by three brothers; Jim (Mary) Carey, Myron Carey and Henry Carey. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the Roy Carey Memorial Fund at the Exchange Bank and Trust in Leavenworth, Ks.
