Services were held Saturday, 5 Dec, in Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. O.D. Robertson officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery. Dr. Abbott was born 13 Jun 1955, in Paris, a son of Melvin and Patsy South Abbott. He was a physician and was a 1973 graduate of Delmar High School. He was a graduate of Paris Junior College, Austin College and the University of Texas Health Science Center Medical School in San Antonio. Since 1980, he had practiced medicine in Houston. Surviving are his mother, Patsy Abbott of Paris; his father, Melvin Abbott, also of Paris; a sister, Lisa Abbott of Paris; his grandmother, Delilah South of Charleston; and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.
