"Bowlin, Betty Jean Hughes
Born Betty Jean Hughes on December 22,1932 to Alpha and Mary Hughes in Florence, AZ. Known affectionately to most as "Jean", she was the second eldest of seven sisters: Mary, Ruby, Gloria, Lily, Edna, and Rosary Hughes. She attended Stevenson School, Monroe School, and graduated from Phoenix Union High School in 1951. She was a dedicated member of the Honor Marching Band, Glee Club, and Tumbling Club.
She moved to California, worked for the bank, and then found her niche in Aerospace. She often reminisced about her days working for McDonnell Douglas and Rockwell Intl.
She moved back to Arizona and went back to work in her seventies. She "officially" retired from Chase Bank.
She was undoubtedly the most selfless person anyone could ever know. She had a heart of gold that shone with an unmatched brilliance. She will forever be loved and cherished by all who knew her.
She is survived by daughters Susan Hayden of Scottsdale and Sandra Castillo of Phoenix, granddaughters Kimberly Hayden and Lindsay Hayden Watt of Scottsdale, great-granddaughters Shealeigh and Leighanna Hayden-Watt of Scottsdale, sisters Ruby Fritz of Sierra Vista, Lily Hudson of Tucson, and Rose McPeek of Phoenix. She is also survived by many first, second, and third nieces and nephews.
Services will be held this Friday, October 14, 2011 at 1:00PM. The services will be presided over by Fr. Peter Kirwin, with assistance from Norbert Ziwickl, of the Church of Our Lady of The Angels. The services will be located at Paradise Chapel Funeral Home (3934 E. Indian School Rd.). The funeral procession will be escorted by motorcade to Saint Francis Cemetery (2033 N. 48th St.) immediately following her services."
