Guy Hilton Burk, 80, of Jackson Township died Monday morning at his home following an illness.
Born in Red Bank, July 3, 1923, he was the son of John David and Minnie Pearl McKissick Burk.
He worked at Armco-Butler Works for 39 years as a chemist in the metallurgical department and retired in 1985.
Mr. Burk was a United Methodist. He was an avid bowler, hunter, and fisherman.
During World War II, he served with the Army from Jan. 25, 1943, to Feb. 21, 1946, when he was honorably discharged as a technical sergeant. He was awarded the American Theater Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal and the Victory Medal. He was a life-member of the VFW Post 249 of Butler and had been a member of the post bowling team for years.
He is survived by his wife, Celia Woods Burk, whom he married Aug. 9, 1942; three daughters; two sons; and a brother. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A son, Guy H. "Butch" Burk Jr.; two grandsons. Blaine Miller and Brian Burk, and two sisters, Jean Anderson and Sara Kohlmeyer, preceded him in death.
