Carrie Lou Emma Brown was born in Haralson County, Georgia on December 8, 1893 to James R. Brown and Amanda Melvina Norton Brown. She was one of 13 siblings.

On December 4, 1909, she married Virgil Maurice Munroe in Haralson County, Georgia. They had six sons and one daughter. Sometime between their marriage day and the birth of their first child, they moved to Geneva County, Alabama. Family members tell me they moved there so Virgil could find work. By the time that their third child was born in 1915, they had moved back to Haralson County, Georgia, where they lived out the rest of their lives.

Carrie was a housewife. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery, and crocheting. Nothing was wasted in her household. She made beautiful items such as quilts from tobacco sacks and bedspreads (which she called a "counterpin") from flour sacks. She crocheted wall hangings and other decorations.

Carrie passed away on April 25, 1969. According to her death certificate, she died of a CVA (Cerebral Vascular Accident) aka a stroke with an underlying cause of Arteriosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease. She was buried in the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery in Felton, Georgia. Her obituary appeared in the Bremen Gateway, Bremen, Georgia on page 10 of the May 1, 1969 edition.
