Mrs. Ethel Christine (Mongold) Burgess, 92, of Maysville and more recently of the Grant County Nursing Home since Dec. 24, 1996, died Oct. 28,2001 at Grant Memorial Hospital, Petersburg.

Born Nov. 5, 1908, in South Fork, she was the daughter of the late Ashby and Edith (Coffman) Mongold and stepmother Olive (Wolfe) Mongold. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. Burgess, Feb. 12, 1995, one grandson, Danny Kimble Jan 2, 1992; one son, Ronald Burgess Aug. 2001 and two infant daughters, one infant son ; 2 half-brothers; 1 half-sister; 1 sister and 1 brother.

She is survived by one son, Donald Burgess and wife Dorothy of Maysville; four daughters, Goldie M. Berg and Frances Hinton, both of Maysville, Jean Cloer and husband Tommy of Union Grove, N.C., and Judy Kimble and husband Jim of Lahmansville; two half sisters, Nellie Miller and Edna Kibler, both of Moorefield; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one step great-granddaughter; three stepgreat-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Oct. 31, at the Schaeffer Funeral Home chapel, with interment in Lahmansville Cemetery, Lahmansville.
