MERCHANT HERE FOR 40 YEARS DIES
Emery C Anderson, 16 West Main Street, who more than 40 years ago established a locksmith and bicycle repair shop at the address where his present business was conducted, died about 8:30 o'clock Thursday night unexpectedly, probably experiencing a paralytic stroke.
More than two years ago Mr. Anderson experienced his first stroke with his left side being partially paralyzed during that period. Last evening shortly after 6 o'clock he was dining with his wife in a restaurant nearby his home when taken suddenly ill. His death followed about two hours later.
Mr. Anderson was recognized as an experienced locksmith with his services called upon from many points throughout Illinois and nearby states. He had started in this trade as a youth and augmented his work with bicycle repairing. His first shop was established at the place where the business is now located, but during the years that elapsed, Mr. Anderson was in business in other locations. He had established residential quarters in the rear of the shop.
Always a resident of Galesburg, Mr. Anderson was born here November 15, 1888.
He is survived by his wife, Frances; a daughter, Mrs. Gordon R Folger by a previous marriage; a grandson, three brothers, Lee, Raymond and Richard Anderson; and a sister, Mrs. RW Wittgrefe, all of Galesburg. There are two step-sons, Kenneth and Donald, both in the service.
Mr. Anderson was confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He was a member of the Eagles.
Funeral services are to be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Kimber and West Mortuary and where friends may call Sunday. Burial will be in Memorial Park.
