NEW ULM - JoAnne Abbas, 63, of New Ulm, died of cancer on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011, in her home surrounded by loved ones.
Memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rural Courtland. Visitation will begin two hours prior to the service at the church.
JoAnne was born Aug. 22, 1948 to LuVerne and Ruth (Kluender) Radke on a farm near Waldorf. She graduated from Waldorf High School in 1966 and went on to attend secondary school in Mankato. On Dec. 4, 1971 JoAnne married Mitchell Abbas at the St. John's Church in Minnesota Lake. She worked in retail for K-Mart in New Ulm and Home Depot in Mankato.
JoAnne is survived by, her husband, Mitchell Abbas of New Ulm; daughters, Angela Abbas of Courtland and Marcia (Brian) Kral of Courtland; grandchildren, Thea Allen and Braydon and Miranda Kral; father, LuVerne Radke of Waterville; brother, Larry (Roberta) Radke of New Richland; in-laws, Gwen (Kevin) Howk of Fairmont, Kimberly (Tim) Duggert of New Ulm, and Harold (Susan) Abbas of New Ulm; several nieces and nephews; an aunt and many cousins.
She is preceded in death by her mother Ruth (Kluender) Radke; mother-in-law Marian (Sader) Abbas; and father-in-law Ernest Abbas.
