Her parents were Nathaniel Vail Lent and Mary Vernia Bowers, both from Fallsburg, Sullivan Co., New York. Nathaniel served in the 143 NY Infantry during the Civil War.
On Dec 22 1892 Lula married William Dickerson Parker at Elkhart, Anderson Co., Texas. To that union were born four children. After he died in 1905 she married Martin Lawrence Franks. They also had four children. After Martin died in 1917 Lula never married again and spent the rest of her life living in the house her two sons (James and Albert) built there on Alderbranch Road at Elkhart.

The house at Elkhart was located not far from the Lorreta Health resort. As a widow Lula worked there untill the resort closed.
