MRS. W. H. BAKER

Mrs. W. H. Baker, eldest child of James H. and Anna Newell Richman, was born May 18, 1870 in Richman township and departed this life Monday, Nov. 19, 1956, at the age of 86 years and six months.

In the year 1888 she was united in marriage to W. H. Baker, who preceded her in death in 1942, ending a companionship of 54 years. They were the parents of one daughter, Mrs. Bruce Joy of Humeston.

Twenty-seven years of her life were spent in LeRoy, 18 years on a farm in Decatur county, and the rest in Richman township. The last 22 years of her life were spent in Humeston. While living in LeRoy, she became a member of the Presbyterian church and was an active member in the Ladies' Aid and taught a Sunday school class.

The many pieces of handwork in her home gives evidence of her every busy hands.

She is survived by her daughter, Mae; son-in-law, Bruce Joy of Humeston; two grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Baker; three great-grandchildren, Janice Mae Baker and Mr. and Mrs. Dale McAlexander, now living at Moody Air Force Base near Valdosta, Ga.; two sisters, Mrs. Elsie Sullivan of Van Wert and Mrs. Junie Fisher of Humeston; one brother, W. A. Richman of LeRoy, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends, who bear witness of her kindness and helpfulness.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, Nov. 21, at 2 p.m. The Rev. B. E. Nielson officiated. Bearers were Harley and Ernest Sponsler, Orland Boggs, Jr., Rex Moore, Calvin Wineland and Eldon Richman. Floral offerings were cared for by Mrs. Harley Sponsler and Mrs. O. J. Boggs, Jr. Music was provided by Reva Gould, Banatah Street with Audrey Dent at the piano. Interment was in the Humeston cemetery.
