Pastor David Lee, PhD, associate Pastor of Empire Baptist Temple, passed away on October 10, 2011.
Dr. David Dale Lee was born May 21, 1949 in Battle Creek, Michigan. He received Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at the age of 20 and surrendered to the ministry in 1971. Since that time Bro. Lee has served the Lord as Pastor of four churches and has been preaching the Lord Jesus Christ for the past 40 years.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Donna of Sioux Falls; his two daughters, Jackie (and Scot) Sturtz of Wisconsin and Judi (and Dave) Lehman of Texas; his six grandchildren (Alex, Emily, Tim and Natalie Sturtz - and - Nick (Amber) and Tyler Lehman); and his two brothers, Dennis (Joyce) Lee and Terry Lee; and two sisters, Gloria (Gerald) Miller and Margaret Van De Briezen.
Pastor Lee earned his Master of Divinity and Doctorate of Philosophy degrees from Great Plains Baptist Divinity School, Sioux Falls, SD. He also was awarded an honorary Doctorate degree (DD) from the same in 2010. He became an Associate Pastor at Empire Baptist Temple in 2000, and served faithfully in that capacity until God called him home.
He actively served the Lord at EBT in the music ministry, tract and book-printing ministry and was a Volunteer Chaplain for South Dakota State Prison System. All the way until his last days, he never stopped soul winning and proclaiming the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Dr. David Dale Lee truly lived life to it's fullest. He left with each of us an example of how to overcome enormous odds and live a courageous and victorious life.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday at Empire Baptist Temple. Visitation with the family present will be from 6:30 to 8:00 pm Tuesday at Miller West Funeral Chapel.
