According to the computer print out from the cemetery records, he died on November 11, 1898 at the age of 53 years. There are two Charles Algers buried in this cemetery. One is my ancestor Charles Alger who was born in 1836 and died in 1897 at the age of 60 and the other is this Charles Alger. I think that this younger Charles Alger is the Charles Alger from Hudson who fought in the Civil War. This unrelated (to the best of my knowledge) Charles Alger is buried in section 2B, Lot 272.

This Charles H. Alger, is probably the young son, age 5, of John Alger, age 39, born in New York and Ellen Alger, age 36, born in New York. They are on the U. S. Census of 1850 at Hudson, Ward 1, Columbia County, New York. Their other child in addition to Charles H. Alger, age 5, is Sarah E. Alger, age 2.

He appears to be the Chas. H. Alger, age 14, born in New York on the U. S. Census of 1860 at the 1st Ward of Hudson, Columbia, New York. He is the son of John Alger, age 49, and Ellen Alger, age 46. Everyone in the household is said to be born in New York. There are also: Sarah Alger, age 12, Frank Alger, age 7, and Uceba (probably transcription error), age 4. Also in the household is Eliza Alger, age 54, probably a sister of the head of household John Alger.

In the U. S. Census of 1880 he is living with his parents John Alger, age 69, born in New York, tinsmith, and Ella (should be Ellen) Alger, age 65, born in New York. Their son Chas. Alger, age 34, is listed as a tinsmith. Also in the household is Frank Alger, age 27, born in New York, tinsmith, and Sarah Alger, age 32, born in New York, 'at home.'
