Mrs. Jude (Bernice) Galles, 83, of Remsen, Iowa, died Friday, May 15, 1998, at her home in Remsen.

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 18, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Rev. Thomas J. Hart and Rev. John J. McGuirk officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery. The Fisch Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Galles was born September 1, 1914, at rural Granville, Iowa, the daughter of Bernard and Johanna (Mousel) Plathe. She was raised and educated in the Granville area.

She married Jude Galles on November 27, 1934, at Granville. They made their home near Remsen, where they farmed, until moving into Remsen in 1946.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, and V.F.W. Auxiliary, all of Remsen.

Surviving are her husband, Jude of Remsen; four sons, Gary of Remsen, Dale of Cherokee, Iowa, Darrell of St. Augustine, Fla., and Tim of Marcus, Iowa; three daughters, Patricia Merrick and Mrs. Bob (JoAnn) Joyce, both of Omaha, Nebr., and Mrs. Steve (Christy) Pick of Remsen; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Arnold (Coletta) Galles of Remsen and Mrs. Geraldine Hodapp of Canby, Minn.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Ferd, Joseph, and Melvin Plathe; and a sister, Mrs. Elmer (Melinda) Klein.

Casket bearers were David and Shawn Galles, Barry Joyce, and Christian, John, and Michael Merrick.
