On December 28, 1925, in Huffman, Ok., a baby boy was born to Lorena(Washington) Shepherd Brown. She named him Aljay. He was the youngest of five children. He was known to most as "Uncle Jay". Uncle Jay spent his childhood in Okmulgee where he attended Sunrise School. He never married and did not father any children. He moved to Kansas City, Missouri, in l950. He worked many years as a bartender. In his younger years, he liked to dance. He also enjoyed fishing. Late in life, Unlce Jay accepted Christ into his life.
Uncle Jay loved his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lorena Goudeau, one brother, Alonzo Shepherd; three sisters, Dorothy Parker, Adeline Johnson and Rozena Wilson. He leaves to cherish his memory, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Service of memory will be conducted on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Precious Memories Chapel, Rev. Jerry Washington officiating. Interment will be in the Northwest Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, September 30, 2011 from 1-6 pm.
