Daughter of John Vance and Sarah Lavinia Gant Perkins

Married John Lawson, abt 1848, Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah

Children - Mary Adelaide Lawson, Marian Margaret Lawson, Joseph Lawson, Hyrum Lawson, Sarah Ellen Lawson, Ruth Eliza Lawson, Rebecca Deseret Lawson, John Vance Lawson, Isabelle Lawson, Ann Elizabeth Lawson

Notes - Birth for Margaret Vance Lawson is 19 Nov 1820, Jackson County (or "West Tennessee," which at that time was "Jackson County"), Tennessee The authority for that is the Journal Church History entry for 21 Jun 1847, wherein the information was provided directly by John Vance.

Both were sealed together by an apostle who visited the Manti, Sanpete, Utah area on "16 Jan 1854." The article on John Lawson found from Ancestry and taken from Conquerors of the West: Stalwart Mormon Pioneers, volume 2, p. 10, while not getting Margaret Vance Lawson's birth year precisely right, did indicate that they were first married "abt. 1848". It states John "married Margaret after his return to Utah" and that they "apparently lived in Salt Lake a short time after their marriage..."

Margaret Vance, who married John Lawson, was still listed as being with John in the Utah Censuses for 1850, 1860 and 1870. The 1880 census taken for Margaret Lawson shows her living in "Coalville," a "widow," with three of her children. A similar fact is also shown on the 1900 Federal Utah Census where it shows her living in Coalville as a "widow" with two of her children, "Anna E. Lawson" and "John V. Lawson."
