John Howard Barnes, Sr., 70, died January 29, 2007, at Central Mississippi Medical Center. Visitation is Wednesday, 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at Stringer Family Funeral Services in Crystal Springs. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Thursday at County Line Baptist Church in Crystal Springs with burial in the County Line Cemetery. Stringer Family Funeral Services in Crystal Springs is handling the arrangements.
Mr. Barnes was a native of Columbia. He formerly lived in Jackson for 30 years and moved to Copiah County 10 years ago. He was a retired driver for Frito-Lay. Mr. Barnes was a member of County Line Baptist Church. He was very active in family activities including coaching.
Survivors include: his wife, Donis Beck Barnes; sons, John Barnes, Jr. of Crystal Springs and Billy Barnes of Clinton; daughters, Kathy Barnes of Kenner, La. and Shari Barnes of Crystal Springs; brother James Barnes of Crystal Springs; and 9 grandchildren, Nicole, Nicholas, Tonya, Lauren, Sara, James, Brianna, Latham, and Abigale.
Mr. Barnes was preceded in death by his parents, John "Bo" Rufus and Lena Johnson Barnes and a brother, Lee Barnes.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to County Line Baptist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 578, Crystal Springs, MS 39059.
