Mr. Barnes was a native of Columbia. He formerly lived in Jackson for 30 years and moved to Copiah County 10 years ago. He was a retired driver for Frito-Lay. Mr. Barnes was a member of County Line Baptist Church. He was very active in family activities including coaching.
Survivors include: his wife, Donis Beck Barnes; sons, John Barnes, Jr. of Crystal Springs and Billy Barnes of Clinton; daughters, Kathy Barnes of Kenner, La. and Shari Barnes of Crystal Springs; brother James Barnes of Crystal Springs; and 9 grandchildren, Nicole, Nicholas, Tonya, Lauren, Sara, James, Brianna, Latham, and Abigale.
Mr. Barnes was preceded in death by his parents, John "Bo" Rufus and Lena Johnson Barnes and a brother, Lee Barnes.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to County Line Baptist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 578, Crystal Springs, MS 39059.
