MARTHA ANN BLACKMARR

Martha Ann Blackmarr, a resident of Dothan, died Wednesday, October 5, 2011. She was 77. Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 10, 2011 at Memory Hill Cemetery with Dr. James Sanders and Rev. Lynn Nesbitt officiating and Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. Donations in her honor may be made to First United Methodist Church Library, 1380 West Main Street, Dothan, Alabama 36301. Ms. Blackmarr was born May 12, 1934 in Eufaula, Alabama and lived the early part of her life there before moving to Jasper, Alabama. She graduated from Auburn University and later moved to Dothan in 1971 where she taught first grade for 25 years. She was active in several historical societies including Jamestowne Society and Colonial Dames XVIIC. She was a member of First United Methodist Church where she worked as a volunteer in the library. Ms. Blackmarr is predeceased by her parents, William E. and Eva Mae Perryman. She is survived by a son, Harold Blackmarr of Atlanta, GA; a daughter, Bethann Blackmarr Campos of Birmingham; a grandson, Daniel Campos of Birmingham; a sister, Elizabeth Bryant of Dothan; a cousin, Henry Hayes of Atlanta, GA; and several nieces and nephews. Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street, (334) 793-3003, is in charge of arrangements.
