Earleen Wynell "Nell" Barber, 61, of Chickasha OK, was born Nov. 29, 1949, in Chickasha, the daughter of Elmer Bowen and Scharleene Rhodes-Bowen. She died in Chickasha after battling cancer.
Nell was raised in the Alex and Ninnekah area. She attended Alex Public schools. She married her best friend, Freddie Barber, on Nov. 18, 1966, in Lawton OK. They lived most of their married lives in the Chickasha and Ninnekah area. Nell worked at many Chickasha businesses (Pet Milk, Sunnytide Nursing Home, American Optical, and Maremont). After having three beautiful children, she became a stay-at-home mom. Nell enjoyed vacationing, garage selling, casino gambling, picking pecans, and spending time with her family.
Nell was preceded in death by her father, Elmer Bowen; grandparents Elmer and Ruby Rhodes, and Andy and May Bowen; father-in-law Raymond Barber; infant son Kendall Barber; daughter Pamela Barber; and husband Freddie Ray Barber.
Survivors include her daughter Carol Barber-Ramsey; granddaughter Shelby Barber; mother Scharleene Bowen; mother-in-law Hazel Barber; oldest sister Frances and husband David Eblen of Chickasha; younger sister Leanna and husband Bruce Trimble of San Antonio TX; younger brother Delmar and wife Marilou Bowen of Chickasha; sister-in-law Paula and husband Jimmy Willis of Blair OK; and several loving nieces and nephews.
