Lou Ella Pate, 73, passed away November 14, 2002 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Services were held Monday afternoon at French Mortuary and interment was at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE.
Lou Ella graduated from Artesia High School in 1947, and enjoyed coming to class reunions. She was very active with the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts of America.
Survivors include: sons, Paul Eugene Pate and wife Linda of Edgewood and Mark A. Pate and wife Elizabeth of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Adriene Pate, Clarence Lundstrom and Bryce A. Pate; sister, Marcia Morand and husband Ralph of Helena, Montana; and brother, Paul Whelan of Dallas, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mark and Bessie Whelan, and older brother Leland Whelan.
Note: The father of her children was, Delbert Eugene Pate born May 20, 1929 In Beeville, Texas, and died from cancer, in 1996 in Minden, Webster Parish, Louisiana. He donated his body to LSU Research, Shreveport, Louisiana. His final remains are buried in Bistineau Cemetery, Heflin, Webster Parish, Louisiana. Also, a son Mark Otis Pate who was born December 11, 1952 in New Mexico and died Feb. 5, 1953 in Shreveport, Caddo Parish, Louisiana is buried in Bistineau Cemetery, Heflin, Webster Parish, Louisiana.
