NORTON - Morgan C. Smith, 42, of Norton, formerly of Mansfield, passed away surrounded by his loving family, on Friday September 30, 2011 at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston. He was the beloved husband of Karen E. (Plante) Smith, to whom he was wed on November 6, 1993.

Born in Santa Barbara, California on November 10, 1968, he was a loving son of Barbara A. (Bamberg) Smith of Baltimore, Maryland and Fred T. Smith, Jr. and his wife Patricia of Lake Charles, Louisiana.

Morgan grew up in Mansfield, was educated in Mansfield public schools, and was a 1986 graduate of Mansfield High School.

A resident of Norton for the past 14 years, he was employed as a sales representative for 17 years at Compurex Systems in Taunton.

Morgan's family was the focal point of his life and he was extremely proud of his children. He loved nature, reading, watching the New England Patriots and will always be remembered for his marvelous sense of humor and for his loyalty to friends.

In addition to his beloved wife of nearly 18 years and his loving parents, he is survived by his devoted children; Rachel M. Smith and Sean T. Smith both of Norton. The dear brother of Lisa Kaitlyn Smith, Esq. of Baltimore, Maryland and Lauren Moffett, Holly Peterson, Taylor Smith, Ben Ladner and Jon Ladner all of Lake Charles, Louisiana, he is also survived by his mother- and father-in-law, Richard and Gloria Plante of Mansfield, as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

His Funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Tuesday October 4 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Mansfield.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, October 3 from 5-8 p.m. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield.

In lieu of flowers, Morgan's family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Ave., Boston, MA 02215. www.dana-farber.org .
