Constable of East Hampton.

Steven Hand, Senr., died testate with a will dated May 17, 1688, which was proved at Brookhaven on May 2, 1693, mentioning his property at Wainscott, Acabonnack, Napeaque, and Montauk. He was the father of three sons, Stephen, Joseph, and Samuel, and five daughters, and his widow Rebecca served as executor of the estate. His name is perpetuated to this day at East Hampton in Hand's Creek and Stephen Hand's Path.

Son of John Hand (1609-1660) of East Hampton, Long Island in Suffolk County, New York, by his wife Alice Gransden Hand (1613-alive in 1670), who were married at Tonbridge, Kent, on Apr. 24, 1634.

Grandson of Stephen Hand of Sundridge in Kent, England, and his wife Anne, widow Buckland, and also of Henry Gransden, gentleman, of Tonbridge in Kent, England, and his wife Alice Harris Gransden.

Steven Hand's first wife [Sarah?] died before the 1684 will of her father John Stretton, and sometime between 1684 and 1686 he may have married his sister-in-law, Rebecca Stretton Bushnell, but this is disputed due to lack of documentation.

[Elizabeth Osborne (d. 1711) is said by some to have been his daughter.]
