U.S. Congressman. Educated at the Griffith Institute, he taught school and later engaged in the mercantile and canning business. In 1891, he was elected as a Democrat to the Fifty-second Congress, serving until 1893. Declining to be a candidate for re-nomination, he became interested in farming, dairying, raising stock and resumed his previous business interest until his death at age 54.
