Mildred Louise Helms, 65, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 3, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Helms; and her parents, Robert and Mildred O'Neal. Surviving are her children, Edward (Eunice) Thomas Jr., Kenneth (Samantha) Thomas Sr., of Roanoke, and Vickie (Donald) Robinson, of Hilliard, Ohio; stepchildren, Ralph Helms Jr. and Karen Helms, of Roanoke; sisters, Peggy Mason, Barbara O'Neal Thomas, and Carolyn Turner; sisters and brothers-in-law, Yewell Helms, Floyd G. (Peggy) Helms, Virginia Bonds, Dorothy Walton, Lois Helms, Lottie (Leonard) Phelps , and Sylvia Helms; 10 grandchildren; two great- grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. A Funeral Service will be held at noon on Saturday, October 8, 2011, at Serenity Funeral Home with the Pastor Floyd Gregory officiating. Interment will follow in Williams Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service. Friends may call at Serenity on Friday, October 7, 2011, from noon to 8 p.m. for viewing.
