AUTHOR and Surgeon Born in Lansing, Mi. Earl attended the University of Ohio. He took post grad work in New York hospital and Harvard University in 1911. He also attended the United States Army Medical school in Dec 1914.
Doctor Downer was sent to Russia as director of the Edwin Gould Mission, Doctor Downer was in daily association with the family and staff of the Russian Emperor. It was his privilage to witness the events of the historic "Red Monday" which marked the beginning of the Russian Revolution.
Dr. Downer is author of "The Highway of Death","The Russian Revolution" and Tale of a War Surgeon" based on his adventures in Serbia,Russia, Greece, Austria, and France.
