Formerly a longtime resident of Palm Coast, Fla., she moved to Killen, Ala., in 2008.
She was recently predeceased by her husband of 60 years, William H. Johnson.
Survivors include her daughter, Colleen Phillips, and son-in-law, Sonny Phillips, of Killen; grandchildren, Galahad Phillips, Hannah Phillips and Ariel Felber; and two beautiful great-grandchildren, Trey William and Katie Marie.
Elaine was an avid reader; she passed on her love of books to her daughter, Colleen, who passed it on to her children who now read to their little ones.
Mrs. Johnson patiently bore many years of illness and disability; her family was privileged to be her caregivers and are comforted now that she is at peace.
She will be laid to rest with her husband at the National Cemetery in Montevallo, Ala., at a later date.
Spry-Williams Funeral Home, Florence, is handling arrangements.
