He was born in Alamance County on May 12, 1928, son of the late Carl Ballard and the late Maude Brewer Ballard.
He pastored various churches for forty seven years, with Harvest Baptist Church in Bessemer City being his most recent pastorate.
He was also a U.S. Navy Veteran.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-one years, Helen Livengood Ballard; daughters and sons-in-law, Kathie Adams and spouse Mickey, Connie Deaver and spouse Ken, Bonny Cooper, Libby Ballard, Rebekah Millard and spouse Mal; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Harvest Baptist Church in Bessemer City.
Interment will be in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Charlotte with military honors by the N.C. Military Honor Guard.
