"Rebekah Carter, aged 63 years, 7 months and 17 days, died in this city Sunday morning, June 12th, at the home of her brother, Thos. G. Carter. She was born October 25, 1840, and was the daughter of James and Mary Carter. The funeral was held at the family residence Monday by the Rev. S.H.C. Burgin of the M.E. Church, South, and the remains laid to rest in Laurel Oak cemetery, followed by her many sorrowing friends and relatives."
