HARDIN CO. INDEPENDENT - 16JAN1936 - MRS. MARY JANE BELT DIED 08JAN
After a lingering illness of many months, Mrs. Mary Jane Belt, wife of T. J. Belt, passed away at her home at Lambtown Wednesday, 08Jan. While she had not been well for a long time, her death came as a great shock to her family & friends, as she seemed to be no worse than usual at the time the family retired for the night. There waas no one in the home at the time but the deceased, her husband & her help, Miss Dorothy Brownfield.
Mr. Belt fell asleep, but awakened at some time early in the night & found Mrs. Belt sitting on the edge of the bed seemingly asleep. When he touched her, however, he discovered it to be the sleep of death.
Mrs. Belt was 71 years of age. Besides her husband, who for over 50 years has been her devoted companion, she leaves 1 son, Willis & 1 daughter, Mrs. Ida Brittain, both of Lambtown, 3 brothers, Willis & James Lamb, of Lambtown, & John, whose home is in MO, 1 sister, Mrs. Phrona Finley, of Poplar Bluff, MO.
Funeral services were held on Saturday morning at Potter's Memorial church. They were conducted by the Rev. Asroe Owens of Harrisburg. Interment was made at Smyrna cemetary. All unite in extending sympathy to the bereaved family.
