COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Bessie Lee Leftwich, 32, of Cookeville, will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 4, from the chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Cookeville City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today, Monday, Oct. 3, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Leftwich passed away on Sunday, Oct. 2, 2011, in Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 29, 1978, in Seoul, South Korea to Paul Jernigan Sr. and Kyong Cha Kim.
Bessie was a graduate of Austin Peay University, where she received her bachelor's and master's degrees. She was a teacher at Upperman High School as a reading specialist. Bessie enjoyed reading, making her home a warm place for her family, baking and shopping. She was a member of Midway Baptist Church.
Previously, she taught a children's Sunday school class at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Clarksville.
Her family includes her husband, Dr. Lanny Michael Leftwich; two stepchildren, Whitney and Ashton Leftwich; her parents, Paul Jernigan Sr. and Kyong Cha Kim of Dover; and a brother, Paul Jernigan Jr.
Pallbearers will be Larry Nabors, Johnny Albertson, John Ross Albertson, Johnny Moss, Darryl Lyles and Ryan McDonald.
Bros. Michael Leftwich and Seth McDonald will officiate at the services.
Dyer Funeral Home in Cookeville is in charge of arrangements (931) 526-7158.
