Violetta Almencion
Violetta "Aunt Bi" Almencion, 99, of Annapolis, died of natural causes April 24 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a 12-year illness.
Mrs. Almencion was born Aug. 4, 1907, in Annapolis and attended Anne Arundel County public schools. She worked at the laundry at the Naval Academy for 26 years and for 10 years as a crab picker at Sadler's Crab House in Eastport.
Mrs. Almencion was considered her neighborhood's matriach.
She was the widow of Mateo Almencion and mother of the late Charles Smith and Evelyn Perguson.
Surviving are one son, Oliver Randall of Upper Marlboro; one daughter, Lydia Graves of Crownsville; 15 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and 44 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation is at 9 a.m. Monday at Asbury United Methodist Church, 87 West St., where a Christian wake will be at 10:30 a.m. and the funeral at 11 a.m. Burial will be at 12:30 p.m. at Brewer Hill Cemetery on West Street.
