Gladys Johnson
Gladys I. Johnson, 90, of Middleton, died Monday, Dec. 16, 1991 at a Caldwell nursing home. Lura Kidner-Miesen of the First United Methodist Church, Middleton will officiate.
Gladys was born May 7, 1901 at Clayton, Illinois. She attended school in Clayton and taught in that area for a short time. She met and married Robert C. Alexander at Golden, Ill., on June 21, 1920. Family illness in 1945 forced the family to move to Sunnyslope, AZ. In 1950, they moved to the Black Canyon area. Clyde passed away, March 5, 1959 at Caldwell. She married H. "Leon" Johnson on May 27, 1969 at Flippin, Ark. They were both active in Grange and Gladys in the Rebecca Lodge. Leon passed away April 24, 1990.
"Gram" was very talented. From cooking to crocheting, she never stopped doing for others. The past three years, Gladys had been quite ill, however, loving care allowed her to remain at her home until a month before her death. Her loving nature will be missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include daughters Mrs. Pete "Peg" Araquistain of Caldwell, Mrs. Roy "Lou" Auten of Phoenix, Arizona, Mrs. Fred "Gwen" Hoelscher of Plymouth, Illinois, Mary Alexander and Joyce Kelso both of Middleton; two sons Robert "Jack" Alexander of Middleton and Clyde Alexander Jr. of Scottsdale, Arizona, two stepsons Larmen Johnson of Redding, California and Carl Johnson of Boise, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
