Loving husband and father, Thomas E. (Ted) Murphy, 78, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, died Friday, September 30, 2011.

He was born November 1, 1932 in Hot Springs, AR to the late Thomas E. Murphy, Sr. and Dorothy (Shoemaker) Murphy-Fisher. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He attended First Assembly of God, he cared for many friends and family in their time of need.

He is preceded in death by a sister Alice Burroughs, brother Raymond Murphy, step-father William Fisher; father-in-law Walter Howard Goessman and mother-in-law Rachel Wyatt Goessman; brothers-in-law Charles Goessman, Ernest Haley, & Don Outler.

He is survived by his wife, of 59 years, Willa Faye (Goessman) Murphy of Hot Springs; sons Larry Murphy of Hot Springs, Teddy Murphy of Lakeland, FL; daughter Amber Parker & husband Milton of Gainsville, FL; aunt Martha Heart of Mountain View, AR; step brother Dalton Fisher of CO; step siter Hazel Cyenne of WY; nephew Gene Short of Hot Springs; niece Debbie Johnston of Newton, TX; 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren ; sisters-in-law Virginia Haley of Hot Springs; Mel Hollis (Jim of Siloam Springs, AR; Audrey Outler Nelson (Pat) of Royal, AR; brothers-in-law Herbert Goessman of Tacoma, WA, Walter Goessman (Nancy) of Mayflower, AR; and several nephews and nieces.

Pallbearers are Terry Haley, Jim Hollis, Kevin Outler, Pat Nelson, Gene Short, and Jimmy Short.

Honorary Pallbearers are Scott Martin, Brenda Holloway, Robin Bell, Sherry Hutson, Jackie Stone, Bernice King, Michael Parker and Kyle Outer.

Visitation will be 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Wednesday. Graveside services will be held 1:00 pm Thursday, at Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Mark Haston and Rev. Scott Martin officiating.
