Sara "Sally" Elnora Humbertson was baptized 18 Nov 1922 by a Methodist Minister in Frostburg, Maryland, where she was born on February 21, 1914, at 91 Bowery Street. Sara graduated from Beall High School Class of 1931, where she was active in the Cooking Club, on the freshman & senior Girl's Club, Track Team, a reporter for the Chime Staff, Mountaineer Staff, Belles Lettres.
Sally's Motto "Laugh and the whole world laughs with you". That was something that she lived up to in later life. She had a great sense of humor and loved reading and poetry. She was a good typist and took shorthand, which she kept up as she got older.
Her first cousin Lillian Clarissa "Smitty" Smith was her classmate throughout her schooling.
Sally grew up on 191 Bowery Street in Frostburg. She worked briefly at the Celanese Corporation.
August 13, 1933 Sally married Earl Price Steiding of Midland, Md. They had 6 children:
Celeste "Ci", Earl B."Sparky", Sally Price "Pricey", Marion Dixon "Dixie", Deann "Deanie" and Camille "Cammy" Steiding.
Sara "Sally" Steiding had 18 Grandchildren.
Sally raised her family at 88 East Main Street, Lonaconing, Allegany County, Maryland.
In the summer of 1961, She moved to California and began to work for Rose Marie Reed Swim Suit Company as a seamstress.
Having raised 5 daughters, she was skilled at sewing. She made us many beautiful clothes. Our neighbors in Lonaconing used to say we were the best dressed children around.
Years later, Sally went to Riker Laboratories and soon became a Supervisor in the Packaging Department. The company became the 3M Company and she retired from 3M.
When Sally died at 22619 Strathern Street, West Hills, all her family and many grandchildren were with her till the end. Momma passed away at the age of 69 years 6 months. She was in the hospital for 88 days, when we brought her home to die with all her family surrounding her. She was our Angel and was truly loved.
Her arrangements were handled by Praisewater Funeral Home, Canoga Park, West San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles County, California. Burial of her cremains are at Oakwood Cemetery, Chatsworth, Ca.
"Our Momma is still our shining star and looks over all her 6 children and grandchildren and gr grandchildren & gr gr grandchildren" We love you always Momma!
