Donald Gene Hassell went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 23, 2011. He passed away at his daughter's home in Lewisville, Texas, at the age of 82 years, four months and 14 days. He was born on May 18, 1929, to Horace Arthel and Cassie (Langley) Hassell, in Turley, Oklahoma. He attended schools in Turley and graduated from Turlsa High School. He attended college at Oklahoma State University. He enlisted in the United States Army on October 27, 1948 and was honorably discharged on September 9, 1954 with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He continued to work for the U. S. Army as a civilian electronics instruction and trainer. He married Ruby Hogue on June 4, 1955.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers: Wayne Hassell, Charles Hassell, Paul Hassell, Rex Hassell, and James Hassell; and three sisters: Belva Hassell, Mabel Hassell, and Wanda Huey.
He is survived by his wife: Ruby Hassell, of Lewisville, TX; two daughters: Vicki Rodriguez and husband Joe, and Tammie Barber and husband Loyal; two sons: Michael Hassell, and Chris Hassell and wife Martha; twin sister: June Etter and husband Stanley; four granddaughters: Sara Rodriguez, Lisa Rodriguez Williams, Katie Hassell Cheyney, and Kelly Hassell; three grandsons: Cody Hassell, Joshua Barber, and Adam Barber; and eight great grandchildren.
