Emma "Jean" Boysen, age 78, of Ida Grove, Iowa, died Saturday, September 24, 2011, at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove.

Born March 26, 1933, in Ida County, Iowa, Emma Jean Boysen was the daughter of Edward and Lillie (Carstens) Deppe. She grew up and received her education in Ida County, and attended Ida Grove High School.
On February 28, 1951, she was united in marriage to
Gustave C. Boysen. The couple was blessed with three children, Larry, Theresa, and Gail. Jean was a faithful helpmate to her husband, working with him on the family farm for many years. She loved to cook, but her greatest joy was found in her family.
Jean was a dedicated member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove. Her faith sustained her throughout the years and was an inspiration to all.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 60 years, Gustave "Junior"; her children, Larry (Lori) Boysen Sr., Theresa (Richard) Riessen, all of Battle Creek, and Gail (Christine) Boysen of Ida Grove; 11 grandchildren, Larry Jr., Laura, Lenny, Lisa, Dale, Jason, Jennifer, Eric, Paul, Tony, and Sandra; two great-grandchildren, Ella and Alexis; as well as several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Johnnie and Raymond Deppe.
