Martin was a local architect who co-founded the architectural firm of Noftsger-Lawrence in 1941. He and his partner, Gaylord Noftsger, were responsible for the construction of many buildings throughout Oklahoma and Louisiana. He was active in the Olivet Baptist Church throughout his life-- his parents were among the charter members in 1910. He was a member of many civic organizations, including the Kiwanis Club and the Masonic Temple. Martin made anonymous gifts to several orphanages in Oklahoma and Louisiana. He was also a member of Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club and the Queensbury Club.
