Scene, Victims of Tragic Middleton Rd. Accident

Here is the scene on the Middleton rd. viaduct following the crash in which four Madison young people lost their lives and eight more were injured at about 12:25 a.m. Saturday. The car on the railing, owned by Dr. Rolf "Chub" Poser, former University of Wisconsin basketball star, was driven by Dr. Robert H. Barter. It is headed toward Madison. The occupants of the rear seat, Dr. John Edwards, 27, and Miss Janet Hermann, 21, a university senior, were both killed in the accident. Two West high school seniors were fatally injured in the car at the right. They were Priscilla Pierce, 17, daughter of C. A. Pierce, and Frances Baldwin, 16, daughter of Prof. Ira Baldwin. Miss Pierce was riding in the front seat of the car driven by William O'Donnell, 18, while Miss Baldwin was with four other young people in the rear seat.

Those killed in the crash were Dr. John Edwards, 21, resident physician at Wisconsin General hospital, whose home is in Asheville, N.C.; Janet Hermann, 21, of 237 Lakelawn pl., university senior from Excelsior, Minn.; Priscilla Pierce, 17, of 1525 Sumac dr., West high school student, and Frances Baldwin, 16, of 211 Lathrop st., daughter of Prof. Ira Baldwin, assistant dean of the university college of agriculture.
