John was a farmer, stockman, and truck driver. John hauled local freight for many years. He delivered for the Santa Fe Railroad as well as the Missouri Pacific Railroad. He was also a household mover. John was always willing to help anyone in need. John always had a smile on his face and a great since of humor. John died at a young 60 years of age.

John D. Andres, 60, of Route 3, Independence, a longtime operator of a trucking service here, suffered an apparent heart attack at about 2 p.m. Tuesday while working at 101 S. 12th St. He was pronounced dead on arrival at Mercy Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. in the Webb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Billy Bingham, pastor of the Bible Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
John D. Andres Jr. was born Jan. 20, 1913, at Dearing, the son of John D. Andres Sr. and Mary Elizabeth (Weaver) Andres. He was a lifetime resident of Montgomery County and had operated a trucking service here for many years including 20 years as trucker for the Missouri-Pacific Railway.
He married Nellie Scott at Iola Aug. 13, 1938, and she survives at the home.
Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Donald (Barbara Ann) Parsons, Edwardsville, Kan.; two brothers, Roy A. Andres, Independence, and Raymond E. Andres, Santa Rosa, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Burger, Wellington, and Mrs. Alice Campbell, Galveston; one granddaughter and one grandson.
One brother and four sisters preceded him in death.
