Mrs. Forrest Lorraine Ayers Allen, 90, of Cana, VA, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2009, in Stuart, VA. Mrs. Allen was born March 1, 1919, in Carroll County, VA, to William and Agnes Harold Ayers. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Toni and Glen Wray of Ararat, VA; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Janice Allen of Ridgeway, VA; grandchildren, Larry Wray and wife, Keri, Steven Wray and wife, Dawn, and Dawn Cooke and husband, Guy; and great-grandchildren, Sydney Wray, Emerson Wray, Hayley Wray, and Craig Cooke. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Allen; a grandson, Stephen Allen; sisters, Ernie McHone, Nellie Puckett, and Lillie Winfree; and brothers, Joyce Ayers, Winfred Ayers, Ralph Ayers, and Byrum Ayers.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at Oakdale Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Kelly Giese. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
