Funeral services for Mrs. Helen C. Baird, 84, of Homer, were held Sept 20 in the Homer Presbyterian Church with rev. Bob Mills officiating. Burial was in G.A.R. Cemetery in Homer.
Mrs. Baird died Sept. 16 in a Moses Lake, Wash., nursing home, where she had been a patient 6 months.
Born Aug. 19, 1893, at Homer, she was the daughter of Bruce and Mamie Haines Conkey. She married Oscar M. Baird Oct. 8, 1913, in Homer. He died in 1961.
Survivors include 3 daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Naomi) Koerner of Homer, Mrs. Luther (Jane) Paulson of Moses Lake, Wash., and Mary Varvel of Urbana; 18 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a half-sister, Janice Moore in California.
She was preceded in death by 2 sons, a daughter, 3 grandchildren and a half-brother.
Mrs. Baird was a member of Homer Presbyterian Church, Champaign County Farm Bureau, Pythian Sisters, Homer Woman's Club and Homer Friendship Club. She was a charter member of Homer Homemakers Extension Unit and was graduated in 1911 from Homer High School.
Memorials may be made to G.A.R. Cemetery or Homer Presbyterian Church.
