Werner Frank Neumann was born Dec. 31, 1910, to William D. and Mary F. (Rust) Neumann. He was the third of six children growing up on his parent's farm in Buse Township, doing odd jobs and trucking. He was employed at the Fergus Falls State Hospital as an orderly and first aide attendant for six years.
On June 22, 1937, he married Margaret Madaline Botz in Milbank, S.D. In 1942 they moved to Big Spring, Texas, where Werner, affectionately called 'Yank,' was employed at the Big Spring Bombardier School as an aircraft fire fighter with downtime that included checkers and card playing. After World War II, he worked in mothballing airplanes and airplane maintenance at Pyote, Texas.
In 1950, Werner and Margaret returned to Fergus Falls and farmed in Buse Township until 1979. His favorite pastimes were the hours spent with family and friends playing cards and/or horseshoes. He enjoyed his membership in Eagle 2339 of Fergus Falls and his association with the Royal Neighbors. As an outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, and gardening. He received Certificates of Merit from Minnesota's Wetlands Program for his contributions to the Fergus Falls Fish and Game Club, Inc.
