U.S. Congressman. Successful in the farming, real estate and the insurance business, he was Postmaster of Caruthersville, Missouri, (1902-09). In 1909, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-first Congress, serving until 1911. An unsuccessful candidate for re-election, he resumed his farming, real estate and the insurance business interests, until his death at age 64. He is the great-grandfather of musician-actress, Sheryl Crow.
