He married Darlene Louise Long at Salem Evangelical & Reformed Church in Alhambra on May 23, 1952.
Surviving in addition to his wife Darlene are his son Mark Alan and wife Diane, his daughter Barbara Ann Bloemker, and grandson Matthew Bloemker. Also surviving are brothers Eldon, Dale, and Lawrence "Chuck" Bloemker, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant brothers Earl and Allen.
Burial was in Immanuel United Church of Christ Cemetery south of Hamel, Illinois.
