BENTON — Floyd B. Dawson, 72, of Benton died at 3:34 a.m. Thursday at Murray-Calloway County Hospital.
He was a retired brick mason and a former Calloway County deputy sheriff and deputy jailer.
He is survived by his wife, Elfreida Foster Dawson; three daughters, Rita Peal, Robin Dawson, and Haley Dawson, all of Murray; six sons, Roger Dawson, Floyd Ray Dawson, Randy Dawson, Ronnie Dawson, Ryan Dawson, and Kevin Dawson, all of Murray; two sisters, Alma Merriman and Mae Sexton, both of Greenfield, Ind.; two brothers, Leroy Dawson of New Palestine, Ind., and John Dawson of Indianapolis; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers. His parents were Roy Lee and Eupha Capps Dawson.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Blalock-Coleman & York Funeral Home in Murray, with Dr. David Roos and Jim Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Murray City Cemetery.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
