A Celebration of Life honoring Kathy Clay Little will begin at Second Baptist Church in San Antonio today, Sept. 22, 2011, and will continue Friday at 2 p.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Woodford, where at a young age, she began her spiritual walk with the Lord.

Her final resting place will follow in Hickory Cemetery, Pastor E.J. Toles will officiate and Rev. Mary Ann Finley will give the Eulogy.

Kathy, age 60, and the oldest daughter of Elmon and Beatrice (Wilson) Clay, was born Dec. 29, 1950. Her earthly life ended Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011, while a patient at University Health Center in San Antonio, Texas.

Kathy began 1st grade at Central School, continued at Springer High School, and graduated as Class Valedictorian. In 1973 she graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Broadcasting and Journalism. In 1980, Kathy moved to San Antonio and began employment with WOAI Radio. She later formed her own newspaper, The African American Reflections, and became entrepreneur of KATC Communications, a public relations, event planning and marketing firm. Additionally, during her tenure as a columnist for Express News, she wrote weekly articles.

Preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister, Mary Ann, Kathy is survived by three daughters, Ilisayh Little, Phyllis Little, Karama and her husband, Pharoah Mathis; nine grandchildren, all of Houston, Texas; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Naomi and Lanny Roberts, Linda and Marshall Carr, Ethel Kay and Malcolm Williams, and Teresa Brown; two aunts, Anna Wilson and Lottie Clay; one uncle, Amos Reed; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Local services are entrusted to Kirk Funeral Home.
