Arthur Ervin Tieden was born Dec. 31, 1928 in Dodge County to Harold and Florence (Buehring) Tieden. He grew up and attended school in Lake Hattie Township, Hubbard County. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He married Joy Fishel Dec. 21, 1956 in Lake George. He was a self-employed logger and concrete finisher. He married Dorothy Penhiter April 22, 1977 in Milbank, S.D. They lived in Lake George from 1979-84 where they owned and operated the Lake George Store & Café. They have lived in Schoolcraft Township from 1984 to the present. He loved to hunt, fish for northern, was a bow hunter and enjoyed the outdoors.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Tieden of Laporte; daughters, Julie (Rod) George of Grand Rapids, Karen (Tim) Vinar of Farmington; Nancy (Clay) Moorhead of Mason, Ohio and Melissa (Lowell) Koebernick of Menahga; sons, Michael Tieden of Missouri, Daniel (Toni) Tieden of St. Paul, Jeremy (Lisa) Tieden of Bemidji and Robin (Tarri) Nielsen of Lebanon, Mo.; 26 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Florence Tieden; brother, Alvin Tieden; step-daughter, Lynn Nielsen.
Funeral service: 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23, at Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji, with Pastor Kent Dudley officiating.
Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22 evening at the funeral home and for one hour prior to the service on Friday.
Interment: Fern Township Cemetery, Becida, under the direction of Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Bemidji.
