Private graveside services for Calvin D. Clute, age 77 of Madisonville, have been scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 22 at the Cross Cemetery near Iola for immediate family & close friends only. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Troy Brooks officiating. There will be no public visitation held. Mr. Clute was born in Marquez, Texas on October 6, 1933 to Wilbur Leslie & Mable (Walrath) Clute and he passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He had been a resident of Madisonville since 1938 and a member of the First Baptist Church. Mr. Clute served in the US Army. He started out as owner of a radiator repair shop and then owned and operated Calvin Clute, Inc., an oilfield construction company. He also worked on pipeline construction as a welder. Mr. Clute was also a partner in the Navasot Cattle Company. His hobbies included playing golf, deep sea fishing, raising guinea fowl and also gardening. Mr. Clute was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Ona Dee; daughter, Kimberly Dee and sister, Jo Ann Rush. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Clute, sons, Kerry Clute, Calvin Don Clute & wife, Stephanie; step children, Marty Fraley & wife, Karey; Angela Baker & husband, Gary, Andrew Fraley; grandchildren, Devan Dee Clute, Cameron Blair Clute, Rachel Kimberly Clute; step grandchildren, Jacob Baker, Bethany Baker, Jordan Baker; brother, Donald Clute & wife, Peggy and two sisters, Marie Nash & husband, Tolbert and Linda Carpenter & husband, T.W. Serving as pallbearers are William Barrett, Jeb Blair, Tol Nash, David Bowles, Arnold Foster and Scott Miles. Honorary pallbearers are the Navasot Club members.
